Sam's 1st Birthday - Tie/Bow Tie and Mustache Bash

I am so excited to finally be able to share with you all the details of Sam's 1st Birthday Party! We had such a fun day celebrating with family and friends. Our little guy sure is loved by so many people! Obviously if you've been on the blog recently then you know I've been showing you sneak peaks of the Tie/Bow tie & Mustache theme and today is the big reveal of how all the elements tied together to create one adorable birthday bash!

I apologize in advance for the photo overload, but there were just too many to choose from and I had a hard time narrowing them down. So below are a few (ok "a lot") of my favorites from Sam's special day.

So let's get started with the main attraction...the dessert table! I wanted the focal point of the table to be all about Sam, so we used the same DIY chalkboard from his invitation photo shoot and customized it with his name and a #1 tie! (Sam's daddy is the chalkboard artist in our house!) The backdrop for the table was created using the wood planks that I feature in a lot of my blog photos and then embellished with 3 hanging garlands of ties/bow ties, polka dots and mustaches. Paper medallions and balloons were used to create some bold pops of color to finish off the look. Mustache brownies, tie/bow tie cookies and cupcakes with mustache and fabric bow tie toppers were served for all the guests to enjoy. Flanking all the sweets were a larger chocolate polka dot cake (inspired by this fabric) and Sam's smash cake. The cutest polka dot & stripe forks I have ever seen were from SucreShop.

Adjacent from the dessert table was the favor/photo station. Pictures were displayed from an old vintage window I found at a local antique shop of Sam from birth to one. Candy was displayed in apothecary jars for guests to "fill their stache" in favor bags as they left.

Sam's party invitation and his first finger painting masterpiece were displayed as guests entered the party. I stole this idea from my friend Jamie. She had her son Jonah do this for his first birthday and it was absolutely adorable! I must say Sam has some great artistic ability!

Carrying on the tie/bow tie, polka dot and mustache theme from the dessert table, 3 more garlands were hung from this old 8 pane window that hangs above our couch. (Thanks Auntie Em for perfecting all the garland assembly!)

Lemonade was served in mason jars with mustache stripey straws!

Our dining room table was decorated with a lime green burlap runner and yellow ribbon and sprinkled with mustache and circle confetti. Simple spring flowers were placed in antique blue mason jars.

I found the idea for this #1 photo collage on Pinterest and immediately wanted to make this part of Sam's party decorations. Since we had his big celebration at the end of his birthday week, I decided to make the #1 out of photos taken only from his birthday week. If you look closely you can see him enjoying his mini cupcake from his birthday morning, playing in his crab sand box that we bought him for his present and driving around in his new cozy truck from Grammie. (Thanks Auntie Em & Gpaw for putting this together at the last minute!)

Sam's party was over Easter weekend so we decided to have an egg hunt for a fun activity with all the kids.  How cute are these mustache eggs I found online at Oriental Trading!

All the outdoor tables were decorated with mustache and circle confetti and flower pots wrapped with bow ties and filled with Easter eggs.

Our backyard was transformed into a little play land with a parachute and balls (Thanks Jennifer for letting us borrow this from miss Cora!) and Sam's new crab sand box and slide. The kids had a blast!

We also created a photo booth area with props for the guests to have fun and be a little silly carrying out the mustache and bow tie theme!

Seth & Renie started off the photo booth fun!

Me & Auntie Em being silly...Sam is all serious in this shot!

I love our little family of 3!

And the moment I'm sure you've all been waiting for...the smash cake! Let's just say my little guy loves him some cake and icing! He had a blast digging right in and flinging icing all over his forehead and hair! I even ended up with a streak of yellow icing in my hair somehow. I just love all of these pictures my sister was able to capture, his facial expressions are priceless!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Sam from the party showing off his absolutely adorable tie onesie from Chic Couture Boutique!

My dad founds this mustache pacifier at Cracker Barrel the morning of the party! I must say it finishes off his outfit and ties in with the party theme quite nicely!

Check out that yellow icing in his hair! Absolutely love this facial expression, he has definitely been smiling and laughing!

I love this little guy so much! Look at that little face!

It was a perfect day and so many memories were created with our little guy! I hope you enjoyed a look into Sam's Tie/Bowtie & Mustache 1st Birthday Bash!

Look Whoo's Having Two - Twins Gender Reveal Party

Happy Friday! I've been so excited to share with you all a recent twins gender reveal party I had the opportunity to help with, and today's the day! My friend Jennifer and I teamed up to create one fun and colorful dessert table for Jennifer's good friend who is having twins! Jennifer did all the table decorations and I provided the sweets. The theme was "Look Whoo's Having Two" with pink and blue owls on the invite. We brainstormed and came up with the idea of doing shades of pink and blue and having owl fondant cake toppers to embellish the cakes.

The table was the focal point as guests arrived so it needed to be bright and and cheery and really pop. The center featured two cake displays made from boxes with colored wrapping paper and coordinating ribbons. The cakes were identified as "a" and "b", one for each baby. Cupcakes and cookies were also served along with bags of popcorn for all the anxious guests to enjoy before the cakes were cut. Before the cakes were cut the guests were encouraged to place their guess by circling the colored pair of owls on the invitations that were sent out...pink/blue, two pink, two blue!

I hope you're inspired by this special party and be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to find out the big "reveal"!

And the big reveal....

Twin GIRLS! I didn't actually attend the party so I wasn't able to see the mama to be cut the cakes. However I did snap a shot of the behind the scenes while I was baking. They're both PINK!

Have you ever been to a gender reveal party before or had a gender reveal party held in your honor? What was the theme?

Twins Gender Reveal Party - Sneak Peak

It was a crazy busy weekend, but oh so much fun celebrating my little guy's 1st birthday with family and friends! As you know I was tempting you every day last week with sneak peaks of his party theme and decorations, and I'm sure you were hoping I'd be back this week to share all the fun details! Unfortunately, you all are going to have to wait just a little bit longer because between myself and my sister I've got hundreds of photos to sort through and narrow down in order to get the blog post together...which will probably turn into multiple posts so there aren't 100 pictures in one post!

So today, I wanted to share with you all another sneak peak of a Twins Gender Reveal party I recently got to make desserts for. If you follow me on Instagram then you may have already caught a few behind the scenes pics of the cakes I made and even revealed the genders. If you don't follow me on Instagram then follow me now and you can go through my photos until you find the pictures of these cakes if you absolutely cannot wait for the next post...and you will see a few of Sam's 1st birthday party pics too! I know you all are probably sick of all the sneak peaks and just want me to get to the good stuff, but this keeps you all coming back right? So here are a few quick pictures of what are quite possibly some of my all time favorite cakes I have made! When I heard the theme of the party was Owl Related "Look Whoo's Having Two" I was so excited because I've made little fondant owl cupcake toppers before and just knew they would be perfect as cake toppers too!

I coordinated the cake decorations and other desserts with my friend Jennifer who was in charge of all the party decorations for the dessert table! I love the party colors Jennifer and the mama to be picked and think these cakes turned out so fun!

The full dessert display and party decorations are coming up soon and you won't want to miss it!

Ties & Bow Ties - {Sneak Peak Party Week}

It's the last day of Sneak Peak Party Week and I've saved the best for last! Let's just say I hit the jackpot when I found these absolutely adorable fabric ties and bow ties in the $1 bin...yes the $1 bin at Target about a month ago! I literally caught a glimpse of these out of the corner of my eye on Sunday as I ran in after church to grab a can of formula! The bin had already been picked over but I was able to grab a few blue and yellow of each and the rest were all red. So I immediately called my mom and sister all the way in KY to have them race to the nearest Target and scoop up as many of these as possible! Two Targets later and they had secured about 25 of these ties and bow ties for Sam's party that they would bring down with them when they came. I had already decided on Sam's bow tie/tie/mustache party theme months before seeing these in Target. So you can only imagine how excited I got when not only did I find such a cute party addition but that they were even in the right colors I had been planning for the party! I definitely jumped up and down, screamed and paraded around the house in pure joy for the rest of the day after this discovery! So thank you Target for helping make Sam's 1st birthday extra special! And for those of you that read this post and head to Target looking for these ties and bow ties, I'm sorry but you will probably be out of luck because these have been long gone at our Target in Mobile! I was literally in the right place at the right time to snag these for such a deal!

I hope you've enjoyed the bits and pieces of Sam's 1st birthday party I've featured during Sneak Peak Party Week! Tomorrow is the big shin dig so we will be celebrating with lots of family and friends and of course an abundance of sugary sweets! I can't wait to share all the details and more photos with you soon!

Hope you all have a great Easter weekend!

Confetti - {Sneak Peak Party Week}

It's day 4 of Sneak Peak Party Week! I'm keeping this one short and sweet.

Colored Paper + Circle Punch = Lots of Confetti

Any guesses as to how these will be used at Sam's party?

Dessert Table & Sam - {Sneak Peak Party Week}

It's day 3 of Sneak Peak Party Week and I've decided to give you a teeny tiny glimpse of the dessert table. If you look closely behind the white chair's and "Sam is 1" blocks you can see the hints of aqua, lime and yellow serving pieces that will be used to display all the sweets! I know it's quite a tease, but you didn't think I was going to reveal the whole dessert table spread before the big party did you?

So instead I've included a few of my favorite photos from Sam's actual birthday on Monday. We started the day off right with a mini cupcake in bed at 7:00AM topped with a candle and the singing of Happy Birthday! Sam dove right in and loved every bite of his cupcake! Guess he'll be taking after me with his love of sweets and eating cupcakes for breakfast! I can't wait to see how he acts with his smash cake on Saturday!

For Sam's birthday we decided to give him a sandbox! He absolutely loves the beach. He has been to beaches in 3 different states so we decided to bring a piece of the beach to our backyard! I found the cutest Crab Sandbox at Amazon.com and just had to get this for Sam! Afterall, his nursery does have a touch of crab decor and his daddy loves to go crabbing in the Mobile Bay so it was a perfect fit for our little guy! As soon as we took the top off he was ready to play! I love all of his facial expressions in these pictures! Hope you enjoy!

Today's feature is all about the cupcakes! In addition to cake and an assortment of other sweets at the party I'm going to be making some chocolate cupcakes topped with adorable mustache and bow tie toppers! These are so super simple to make and only require a few materials but will certainly add to the cute factor and "tie" in perfectly with the mustache and tie/bowtie theme!
